Grocery Egg Ad Activity Jumps as Cage-Free Promotions Expand
USDA's weekly retail feature report shows the Feature Rate up 10.7% and Activity Index up 27.7% for week ending 10/02/2026. Cage-free and pasture raised ads grew notably, driven by one large retailer's broad cage-free spread. Conventional large white eggs averaged $1.10/dozen while pasture raised large brown hit $5.96 and organic large brown $7.44.
Why it matters: Rising cage-free ad volume signals producers should shift toward cage-free/pasture-raised supply to capture higher per-dozen prices like $5.96 versus $1.10 conventional.
