USDA: Cage-Free Flock Tops 151 Million in September
USDA's September 2026 cage-free report shows wholesale FOB prices of $1.73/dozen (contract) and $0.60/dozen (negotiated) for Large eggs. Total cage-free flock reached 151,561,575 hens, with organic birds at 22.25 million (84.5% lay rate) and non-organic at 129.3 million (83.2% lay rate).
Why it matters: Producers can benchmark cage-free flock growth and FOB pricing against their own contracts as organic layer numbers keep expanding.
