Hygiena Launches New PCR Test for Salmonella Detection
Hygiena, working with USDA, released a PCR-based assay under its BAX System line that detects salmonella in poultry, beef and pork. The test adds virulence-associated genetic characterization, aiming to give processors more detailed pathogen risk data alongside presence/absence results.
Why it matters: Egg producers using BAX System testing gain virulence-specific Salmonella data, enabling risk-based sourcing or processing decisions beyond simple presence/absence results.
