Cal-Maine Posts Q1 FY2027 Loss as Egg Prices Slide
Cal-Maine's fiscal Q1 2027 net sales fell 41.5% to $539.6 million, with net loss of $58.6 million ($1.26/share) versus a $199.3 million profit a year ago. Conventional shell egg prices dropped 59% on oversupply, while Specialty Shell Eggs and Prepared Foods rose to 54.1% of net sales.
Why it matters: A 59% drop in conventional egg prices and 41.5% sales decline signal continued oversupply pressure, pushing producers toward specialty and prepared-food diversification.
