EggWire in Claude and ChatGPT

Ask your AI assistant about bird flu, egg recalls, the Morning Candle and USDA egg and feed prices, and it answers from EggWire. It reads through your own EggWire seat, and it can't change anything in your account.

Part of the Team plan. EggWire for AI assistants is included with every EggWire Team seat, including a Team on a trial. It isn't part of an individual Pro subscription.

What your assistant can look up

latest_alerts: recent stories EggWire rates severity 4–5 (its alert threshold), up to the last 7 days.
search_stories: EggWire's stories by text in headlines, summaries and company names, up to the last 90 days.
todays_candle: today's Morning Candle, story by story, with the USDA price line on Mondays.
market_snapshot: the latest USDA egg, corn and soybean-meal prices, with units, report dates and sources.

Every story comes back as EggWire's own summary with links to its sources and a confirmation status. A bird-flu story is marked official only when a USDA or state animal-health agency's own publication is attached (FDA or FSIS for an egg recall). Every other bird-flu story is labelled “News report, not officially confirmed”. Severity alone never means confirmed. See the legal page.

Connect Claude

In Claude, open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
Name it “EggWire” and paste this URL: https://eggwire.co/mcp
Select Connect. Sign in with your EggWire Team account, check the app and the address shown, then select Allow.

On Claude Team or Enterprise: your Claude Owner adds the connector once for everyone. Then each person selects Connect in their own Connectors settings and signs in with their own seat. Nobody shares a login. Connectors you add on the web also work in the Claude desktop and mobile apps.

Connect ChatGPT

In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps & Connectors. Under Advanced settings, turn on Developer mode (depending on your ChatGPT plan, a workspace admin may need to allow it).
Create a connector named “EggWire” with the URL https://eggwire.co/mcp and OAuth sign-in.
Sign in with your EggWire Team account, check the app and the address shown, then select Allow.

Menu names in Claude and ChatGPT change from time to time. If a step doesn't match what you see, look for “connectors” or “apps” in Settings.

Disconnect

On eggwire.co, open Alert preferences and find Connect EggWire to Claude or ChatGPT. Every connected app is listed there with a Disconnect button, which works at once. Changing your password, being removed from your team, or deleting your account also disconnects every app. If your Team's subscription lapses, your assistant gets a short “Team plan feature” answer until it is renewed, with no need to connect again.

Limits

Per person, across all your connected apps together: 30 requests a minute, 500 requests and 2,000 stories a day (the day resets at midnight Eastern), and up to 5 connected apps. One answer holds at most 25 stories.

What's shared, and what isn't

EggWire sends your assistant only what it asks for: EggWire's own story summaries, source links, the Candle's stories and USDA prices. Never full articles. EggWire keeps which app you connected and when, and a count of each request (which tool, how many results, how long it took) for 400 days. It never receives or keeps your prompts, your search text or your conversations. The assistant's provider (Anthropic or OpenAI) handles what you ask under the terms you agreed with them.
